On July 3rd and 4th, 2025, experts from urban planning, horticultural research, and tree nurseries met at the BdB Transformation Congress “Roots & Visions: Urban Greenery of the Future”<\/a> to discuss green solutions to climate change. The focus was on topics such as heat protection, heavy rain resilience, evaporative cooling, and biodiversity through urban green infrastructure \u2013 i.e., parks, street trees, roof gardens, and urban forests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u00d6jendorf Innovation Area was also represented at the congress: Prof. Antje Stokman (HafenCity University Hamburg) took it up as an example of integrative urban development with reference to urban agriculture as part of a panel discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was complemented by an excursion<\/a> on July 4: Participants visited successfully implemented urban green projects such as Lohsepark, Baakenpark and, optionally, Grasbrookpark \u2013 initiatives that impressively demonstrate how green urban life can succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
