Date: 09.07.2025
Location: Test and demonstration area, Öjendorf Innovation Area

As part of the on-site visit, representatives from the Authority for Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture (BUKEA) and other participating institutions visited the test and demonstration site of the research project “Innovationsareal Öjendorf – Future Space Urban Agriculture.” The aim of the meeting was to present the current state of development of the site, to provide information on the importance of the site for urban agriculture and circular economy, and to discuss key challenges with regard to the extension of the project.

After a brief introduction by the project team, the current status of the test site was explained. In particular, the focus was on the basic infrastructure, including the containers, electricity and water supply, and the flowering strips. These form the necessary basis for the horticultural use of the area and its further development as a productive and at the same time public space.

Afterwards, two active users presented their projects:

  • User 1 (market gardener) presented his market garden and gave insights into his cultivation method, marketing and his perspective on the importance of long-term planning security.
  • User 2 (area representative and edible flowers) presented her work with edible flowers and emphasized the importance of shared responsibility for the development of the area.

The on-site visit provided space for open exchange, questions and discussion of the next steps.
