Within the Green Corridor Horner Geest, a multifunctional agricultural park will be created: On an area of approximately 12 hectares, just a few kilometers from Hamburg city center, agriculture, local recreation, and nature conservation are being rethought and integrated.
In the first workshop on September 18, 2025 at HafenCity University Hamburg, we developed visions for the year 2040 together with experts from agriculture, horticulture, urban planning, administration, real estate development, and civil society.
Based on three different scenarios, the participants in six small groups designed their visions using a spatial model and an organizational chart. The result is initial ideas for an urban agriculture park that is more than just a field – a place to experience, learn and participate. It became clear that the park should serve many goals – making agriculture tangible for the urban population, combining leisure & production, balancing social, ecological & economic demands and enriching the city through natural design.
In an introductory lecture, Fabian Beyeler and Bernhard Koch from Grün Stadt Zürich provided insights into how the city of Zurich proceeded with the development and implementation of the Auwis Landscape Park.
The future scenarios developed in the workshop form the basis for Workshop II in February 2026, where we will delve deeper into cross-cutting themes and discuss concrete development paths.
2040 in sight – we are shaping the future now!
