Networking meeting with project presentation

At the second networking meeting, around 40 people from 21 businesses in various sectors, initiatives, and institutions came together to learn about the project. After the company tour, Antje Stokman (Hafencity University Hamburg) situated the project and its goals within the context of the development of the New Garden City Öjendorf. Subsequently, Doris Lange (University of Kassel) presented initial proposals for the use of the test areas. In the discussion, the participants emphasized that a close exchange of knowledge between the project team and practitioners is necessary for the success of this and other projects. There was great interest in the demonstration and test area, but the lease period of two years poses risks and hinders the chance of finding managers. It was also important for the participants that a thematic network for urban agriculture between producers, gastronomy, crafts, administration, etc. is developed in the course of the project. In the project, the connection of agricultural areas, agricultural infrastructure, and residential development should be considered together from the beginning, and operational concepts for the garden city should be developed jointly.
